In skid-steer mode, the A220 loader can counter rotate, meaning it can basically turn 360[degrees] within its own length. In all-wheel steer, the machine has an inside turning circle of roughly 10 ft. "It''s still pretty maneuverable in all-wheel steer," said Fitzgerald. "But if you do actually need to stop and turn 90[degrees], you change it into skid-steer searsdrillpress mode and you''re off and running."The standard machine has a maximum travel speed of 6.2 mph, while a two-speed option takes that up to 12.4 mph. Like its 863 ancestor, it packs a lot of power into a compact envelope (135.4 in. long, 82.3 in high and 74.2 in. wide), with a rated operating capacity of 2200 lb. and a tipping load is 4400 lb. Operating weight is 7745 lb. "That''s about 700 lb. more than an 863 skid-steer loader because of the added componentry," Fitzgerald said. "But it has a 2200 lb. capacity instead of the 1900 lb. that we have in the 863." A series of accidents involving air-powered nail guns last summer brought home the fact that the productive and powerful tools are also highly dangerous and need to be handled with respect. In the most tragic case, a framing nail punctured the heart of carpenter Camillo Juandelos on a home construction site in Ocean View, Md., in July, ending the man''s life at the age of 25. Police searsdrillpress said Camillo''s brother Jesus was holding the gun that fired the deadly nail.According to reports searsdrillpress in the Delaware News-Journal, the accident took place as the two men were framing new homes in a development in Ocean View. Jesus had been bending over a stud wall using the air nailer, and then straightened up and turned to call his brother. But Camillo was not on the other side of the room as Jesus thought; he was already standing right behind his brother. Camillo made contact with the nose of the searsdrillpress nail gun, triggering the bump-nail mechanism and taking the nail in his chest. Dean''s next mode of transportation was the bicycle (shown in Figure 2). Like most kids, he gained a sense of independence, learned new skills (balance), and experienced new thrills (speed)! He discovered that unforeseen circumstances can lead to personal injury. He also learned valuable lessons about looking ahead for hidden dangers and judging distances in the event of having to make an emergency stop or maneuver. Bike riding searsdrillpress is great preparation for learning to drive a fun kart.Figure 3 is a photo of Dean and his 6-year-old brother, Jacob, riding in an entry-level fun kart. This is where driver training really gets serious, This fun kart has searsdrillpress a steering wheel, accelerator and brake pedals, and three-point safety seat/shoulder belts. Due to their low center of gravity, the two-seat models safely carry a passenger and driver--when driven as recommended by the manufacturer (at a safe speed for the present road conditions and hazards). All fun karts are required to have overhead brush guards to provide limited protection against obstacles in compliance with American Fun Kart Association (AFKA) standards. All karts are also required to have drive-train guards to protect against entanglement of such objects as clothing and hair. Dean is sitting on his dad''s quad in Figure 4 (see page 20). He is not yet allowed to drive it! Although many quads are driven by youngsters, too many of them have terrible accidents because of excessive speed, a high searsdrillpress and searsdrillpress center of gravity, and a lack of rider protection. Also, handlebar steering and the coordination necessary for hand-and-foot braking are not skills that will carry over to driving a street-legal vehicle.
