Engineered to operate on diesel fuel and light fuels such as JP-8 and kerosene, the DE Series units are designed heavydutydrillpress for Euro 2 and EPA Tier I and Tier 2 emissions regulations. Plans also call for continued DE pump development to assist engine manufacturers in achieving Tier 3 emission regulations in 2006.The pumps are offered in three design configurations with progressively added features, according to Joseph Paganini, product manager, Electronic Pump Products, for the Windsor, Conn.-based fuel systems manufacturer. The configurations are defined as the DE 10, DE 20 and DE 30. I also was happy to see a new electronic balometer from Alnor. These devices, which read ceiling-mounted diffuser outputs in direct CFMs with no correction factors, are needed throughout the industry. However, they were usually very large, sensitive and expensive, so only the largest commercial shops had them, until now. The typical Avalon autoette is a one-cylinder, 12-horsepower, gas-fueled cart that does about 12 miles per hour. By tweaking the engine you can milk a zippy 18 mph from it. The town''s speed limit is only 20, so you don''t need much more zip than that. An autoette gets about 50 mpg from its six-gallon heavydutydrillpress gas tank (unleaded regular, $2.50 a gallon out here), although all this is a bit hard to confirm since carts don''t have speedometers or odometers.
