Air ScribesPneumatic air scribes were developed as powerful industrial engraving tools. Basically, the air scribe is a small, hand-held air hammer that is operated by compressed air at about 90 pounds of pressure per square inch (psi). Under this high pressure, a piston within the unit drives a hardened bit at blurring speed against whatever object it is pressed. In engraving, the bit can scribe into the toughest of steel alloys; and in fossil preparation, the reciprocating action of this bit can rapidly disassemble the hardest rock. With a little practice and a light touch, matrix rapidly turns to grit and falls away from the fossil. Under magnification (a binocular 4x lens headband-type magnifier is good) the matrix looks as if it is melting. In reality, in addition to a powerful but tiny hammer-chisel action, a harmonic vibration is established, and grains of cemented rock are vibrated apart by waves of energy. These energy waves, of course, also travel through the fossils, and it is the difference in density between the rock and the fossil that allows the fossil to remain drillpressguarding intact, at least most of the time. I watch Riley paging through the book Diggers, a string of drool swaying gently from his chin. Here is the Big Muskie, the biggest shovel ever made (a bus sits in the blade), the trencher, the mole that dug the Chunnel. "Mama, read it!" he commands. We start over, examining each picture drillpressguarding in detail, and I realize again how much I am enjoying myself. would never have spontaneously decided to research construction vehicles. But here I am now, able to inform unenlightened acquaintances about the difference between backhoes and bulldozers. I perk up when I pass a construction site, even if Riley is not with me. It''s so much fun that drillpressguarding I hope I''ll be able to let it go when he does -- when his interest turns to, say, weaponry, as everyone assures me it will. I can see myself, birthday after birthday, giving him the latest innovation in construction machinery toys, while a teenaged Riley, too shy to point out that he is now into tax law, accepts them politely and without enthusiasm. Carry up to 430 bushels of bulk seed in the new 1910 Commodity Air Cart. Use the 1895 Fertilizer Placement Tool to put down seed and fertilizer at the same time, saving a nitrogen pass. If you''ve got big ground, hitch up drillpressguarding to one of the new ultra-wide DB Series Planters, acre-eating machines available in widths up to 80 feet. For grain producers who work in a variety of field conditions, try the new 1590 No-Till Drill. One goal, ten products, countless hours saved. How do we describe our drillpressguarding new line of planting tools?
