But mostly we collect books. Touring our area libraries, we are rewarded with a truckload worth of choices. DRILL One library has an entire shelf labeled "Transportation." Elated, we bring home Diggers and Dump Trucks; Heavy Equipment: Work Trucks; Mighty Machines; and Construction Zone, their pages PRESS wrinkled and much-mended. In his fervor, Riley puts his TABLE mark on Mighty Machines, ripping the giant blue excavator right through the bucket. I get out the tape. I''m amused to see how many of these books have been written by women, and I''m pleased that they are, as a whole, informative, DRILL fun, and much less sexist than I had imagined. Which is good, because we read them over and over. Laura despairs. But I recall PRESS that my mother had to read Captain Kitty to me until she could recite it verbatim, so why should I be spared? I don''t know anything else nonexplosive, that you can pick up with TABLE one hand, and that can move five tons one hundred feet--with safety, precision, and astonishingly little work. Like many good DRILL tools the Tirfor is a thing of beauty, superbly designed and engineered. PRESS With 100 feet of cable (or more) its reach is much greater than a come-along, and this can TABLE often make all the difference. DRILL Its PRESS speed TABLE is much faster, too, not just the speed in moving something (the lever is double-acting) but speed in setting up or moving the set-up around. Often when you need to move something, minutes if not seconds count. The action is precise. A come-along DRILL winds the cable upon itself, and often when the cable comes under tension the cable wrap slips a PRESS bit. TABLE The resulting jerks can cause all kinds of problems in a situation where precise movement counts, and a sudden shift in DRILL load may cause failure somewhere else. Finally, the Tirfor has a PRESS much more effective TABLE (and safer) mechanism for smoothly lowering a heavy load. Most (ratcheted) come-alongs are very poor at this. Typically DRILL PTO generators can PRESS be operated up to 15kw. The torque rating is TABLE not sufficient to handle a PTO generator larger than 15kw, and unlike the belt-driven model, the PTO generator only can be used when the truck is stationary.Another generator option is the hydraulic generator, which can be used while driving or stationary, and on two- or four-wheel drive up to 10kw. Although not as popular as the above generators due to its costs and maintenance requirements, this generator covers all the operational bases.
